 scrip program

** Important Kroger Program Changes **

Kroger is introducing a new scrip program.  Their traditional scrip program that we have been using over the past several years will cease to exist and will be replaced with their new program, Kroger Community Rewards.  Kroger Community Rewards begins May 1, 2009.

Ø  Your Kroger Scrip Card need not be used after April 30, 2009, for the purpose of “scrip” earnings.  Additionally, Kroger scrip cards will no longer be available through our scrip program.

Kroger Community Rewards has committed $5,000,000 to their program for the first year.  They will award $1,250,000 quarterly to all registered organizations in their program.  Each registered organization will receive a reward check based on the percentage of their spending in comparison to that of other registered organizations.  The first quarter “spending clock” begins May 1, 2009.

Ø  Each family MUST register their Kroger Plus Card with Kroger Community Rewards, www.krogercommunityrewards.com, as soon as possible!

Ø  The amount of rewards granted by Kroger is set per quarter, so it is very important that all of our families are registered by May 1, 2009.  Every day beyond May 1, 2009, that your card is not registered means that purchases may not receive credit toward the quarterly award pool.  This affects not only you, but every member of Notre Dame Academy’s Scrip Program.

Ø  It will take 7-10 business days for your registration to become effective.

The amount of rewards that Kroger commits to this program will be reviewed annually.  Each organization participating in the program will be limited to a $50,000 quarterly award; each household will be limited to a quarterly reward of $300.

Ø  To earn $300 quarterly under Kroger’s scrip program, a family would have to spend $6,000 quarterly.  If you do not typically spend $6,000 quarterly now at Kroger, then Kroger’s $300 quarterly maximum should not affect your family’s earnings.

Lastly, under Kroger’s new program, rewards will only be earned on purchases at Kroger stores in our region.  All Ohio Kroger stores are in our region, except for Cincinnati, Dayton, and Springfield.  Also included in our region are Lambertville, MI, Weirton WV, and Wheeling, WV, stores.  For a complete listing of Kroger stores in our region, please visit www.krogercommunityrewards.com.  On the home page, under the Ohio heading, is a link to view all participating Ohio stores.

Kroger has assured us, that this program should not change the earnings that we have enjoyed in the past.  We will monitor earnings and report to our families after receiving our first quarterly report in August.  To ensure the maximum possible earnings for you and our program, it is critical that you register your Kroger Plus Card.  Please refer to the attached instructions to register your card.

Kroger plus card

Please keep in mind that Kroger allows only one Kroger Plus Card number to be registered per email address.  This is due to the fact that any given household typically needs only one Kroger Plus Card number.  To receive credit for purchases, family members need only to enter a telephone number at the check-out (the card itself really isn’t needed).

Common sense then may direct you to tell extended family members and friends to just input your telephone number at check-out to enhance your quarterly earnings potential.  In many cases, that will work.  However, if family and friends accumulate fuel rewards, or may participate with any other Kroger rewards program, they will want to use their own Kroger Plus Card at check-out.  Because of that, we recommend that extended family and friends who wish to help you accumulate Community Rewards’ earnings, register their own Kroger Plus Card with Kroger Community Rewards, and select Notre Dame Academy as their earnings’ recipient.*

×          Plan on about five minutes…

×          Have your current Kroger Plus Card in hand.

×          Visit www.krogercommunityrewards.com

×          Click on Ohio

×          Under the Participant heading, click on Enroll.

×          Click to sign up as a new customer.

×          Select your preferred Kroger store by entering your zip code.

×          Enter your email address and a password.

×          Select marketing preferences, if any, click confirm.

×          Your Account Details will appear.  Please confirm the information and agree to the Terms and Conditions; click confirm.

×          Kroger will then send you an email to confirm your Kroger Community Rewards account.  Clink on the link.

×          Once redirected, click to log into your account; log-in.

×          The next page highlights your account details.  To register your Kroger Plus Card for Kroger Community Rewards’ earnings, click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards Information (located in the Kroger Community Rewards box on the right hand side.

×          Enter your 12 digit Kroger Plus Card number; click save.

×          Provide your name and address; click save.

×          If you have extended family members or friends registering their cards for your benefit, it is critically important during this step that any non-school family member and/or friend enter their last name, followed by a hyphen and your last name (e.g.  Jones – Kurtz). Without your last name, we will have no way of knowing which school family to credit.  Due to the volume of  Kroger Plus Cards that will be registered to our program, we will not be able to find the family to which earnings should be credited.*

×          Select your organization.  Type Notre Dame Academy in the box; click search.

×          Select Notre Dame Academy; click save.

×          Your purchases will begin earning rewards within 7-10 days after successfully registering your Kroger Plus Card.  After the May 1 start date, you will then see at the bottom of your receipt, “At your request, Kroger is donating to Notre Dame Academy.”

Remember, due to the nature of Kroger’s program, the earnings “clock” starts ticking on May 1, 2009.  Every day you wait to register your Kroger Plus Card is an earnings opportunity missed for not only your family, but for every Notre Dame Academy family who participates in our Kroger program!

Please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions regarding Kroger.  By letting us know of any problems or concerns, we are better able to help others!

*Attention:

Families with grandparents, neighbors, and/or

extended family members earning Kroger Rewards for your benefit.

If you have grandparents/neighbors/extended family with a different last name than yours registering their Kroger Plus Card under Notre Dame Academy for your family’s benefit, careful attention must be given when registering.  Based on the report that Kroger will provide us quarterly, we will have no way of knowing to what family earnings should be credited if a grandparent/neighbor/extended family member has a different last name than yours.

For example, my neighbor, John Doe, would like to help my family with tuition.  He would like to register his Kroger Plus Card number with Kroger under Notre Dame Academy.  When we receive the report, John Doe’s name will be listed, along with his Kroger Plus Card number, the amount he spent during the quarter and related earnings.  We will not have any idea where to post the earnings for Mr. Doe, as he is not registered with Notre Dame Academy’s Scrip Program.  Furthermore, due to the size of our program, searching for the intended family will not be possible.

If this scenario applies to your family, it is critical that you instruct John Doe to hyphenate his last name when registering his card.  John Doe would enter his last name first, followed by a hyphen, followed by the last name of the family that will receive his earnings creditJohn Doe would enter the following into the Last Name box:  Doe-Kurtz.

Of course, if there is more than one family at Notre Dame Academy with the same last name as yours, a first initial (head-of-household’s first initial) will be necessary:  Doe-GKurtz.
